Patient-Aware Medical Search

Patient-Aware Medical Search helps you ask clinical questions with key patient context already included. When you use Medical Search from an EMR-integrated encounter, Tali can automatically include the patient’s age and sex, so your question is more specific without requiring you to manually re-enter basic patient details. This is especially useful when the answer may depend on patient-specific factors, such as dosing, screening criteria, guideline recommendations, risk factors, or age- and sex-specific considerations.

What is Patient-Aware Medical Search?

Patient-Aware Medical Search is an enhancement to Medical Search for PSS, CHR, Accuro, MedAcess EMR-integrated users.

When an encounter is launched from the EMR, Tali automatically makes the patient’s age and sex available in Medical Search. You will see this context displayed below the question field before you submit your question.

For example, if the encounter is for a 42-year-old female patient, Medical Search will show:

42y, female

This context is then included when Tali answers your medical question.

Why this matters

Clinical questions are often more useful when they include patient context.

Instead of manually typing the patient’s age and sex into every question, Tali can include that information for you when it is already available from the EMR-integrated encounter.

This helps you:

  • Ask more specific clinical questions
  • Reduce manual re-entry
  • Keep your workflow inside the encounter
  • Receive answers that better reflect the patient in front of you

Example

For an encounter launched from EMR that has patient context:

In the encounter, you may ask:

Safest second-line antihypertensive for T2D and CKD?

If the patient context shows 42y, female, Tali will answer with that context in mind.

You can still add any additional clinical details directly in your question, such as relevant conditions, medications, lab values, pregnancy status, allergies, or other factors that may affect the answer.

When patient context is available

Patient-aware Medical Search is available when you are using an EMR-integrated encounter and have launched Tali through your EMR. This is availble for PSS, CHR, Accuro, MedAcess integrated Tali users.

    What patient information is included?

Patient-Aware Medical Search currently includes the patient’s:

    • Age
    • Sex

Medical Search does not automatically include all information from the patient’s chart. Add any additional clinical details directly in your question when they are important to the answer.
